Job Description:

Palleon Pharmaceuticals is seeking an experienced professional to lead the Immunology Group. S/he will report to the CSO and be responsible for leading the Immunology Team and driving the science and innovation that supports Palleon’s immuno-oncology and inflammatory disease pipelines. The successful candidate will have a track record of target validation, drug discovery, project and team leadership, and scientific publications. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated self-starter and creative problem solver who has a strong desire to make a critical contribution to the development of novel therapeutics. The Head of Immunology will be a high-profile leadership position in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced biotech company environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Drive scientific research and cutting-edge innovation in the glyco-immunology field
  • Oversee and lead the Immunology/Biology Team
  • Contribute to the formulation of the company’s overall strategy and direction as a core member of the Scientific Leadership Team
  • Lead target validation to identify novel targets and build R&D pipeline
  • Spearhead the research effort to elucidate the mechanisms of action of Palleon’s first-in-class therapeutics to support biomarker development
  • Manage CRO contracts and relationships to ensure that deliverables are high quality, on time, and on budget
  • Oversee external collaborations with a global network of scientific advisors; initiate and manage Sponsored Research Agreements
  • Manage external partnerships with governance committees

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ph.D. in immunology or equivalent advanced degree
  • 10+ years of experience in drug discovery in the biotech or pharmaceutical industries
  • Expertise in immunology required, immuno-oncology or inflammatory diseases background desirable
  • Proven track record of managing direct reports and leading teams
  • Strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering desired outcomes
  • Desire to initiate and apply innovative approaches to early drug development
  • Insightful, resourceful, and decisive leader with good problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and pro-active manager with a can-do attitude and hands-on approach
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
